Agencies building on SpiderPublish can now run a full press room on any client site they publish, and hand the work to an AI agent. The Newsroom (live on the platform since July 2026) adds press releases as a native content type at /press, with public feeds, downloadable media kits, named press contacts and a double opt-in journalist list. It is available today on every SpiderPublish site at no additional cost.

The release addresses a structural gap in newsroom software: the category is read-only. Competitor pr.co documents its API as read-only with no webhooks, according to its own published API documentation (reviewed July 2026), which leaves nothing for a customer to automate.

"An agency with ten clients has ten press rooms to keep current, and every one of them is a manual job, because nothing in this category lets you write to it. Give an agent a write API and one person keeps all ten current," said Martin Shein, founder of SpiderIQ.

What shipped:

  • A write surface reachable three ways, per the published SpiderPublish tool manifest: 27 press tools over MCP, a spideriq content press command group, and the REST API directly. Any agent that can call one of them can draft a release, attach a media kit, set a dateline, schedule it and return a preview link.

  • Embargoes that mint each journalist a separate expiring preview link, marked noindex, with the release publishing itself at the lift time.

  • Media kits that download without a form wall by default.

  • Six one-click newsroom templates (SpiderPublish marketplace, August 2026) that adopt the site's existing palette and navigation.

  • A Markdown mirror at /press/{slug}.md for AI crawlers, alongside RSS, Atom and JSON feeds.

A media kit ships empty until the customer uploads assets. Earlier template versions shipped placeholder files, so a newly applied template could offer journalists a headshot that did not exist; templates now publish nothing the customer did not provide.

Release pages emit NewsArticle structured data with a dateline where structured data is enabled for the site. Four emitted NewsArticle at all, according to a SpiderIQ survey of 30 live corporate newsrooms (July 2026).

Not included in this release: a Google News sitemap, a multilingual newsroom, an investor-relations module and coverage tracking.
